Nut Butter Tasting in Lowell House

Last week, Lowell House had their first Food Literacy event of the year: a study break featuring nut butters from Fastachi, one of the vendors at Harvard’s Tuesday Farmer’s Market.

Students enjoyed a variety of spreads from the extremely creamy hazelnut butter to the oddly bright green pistachio butter. The tasting was also laid out with a variety of crackers and fresh chopped fruit–including local, organic apples.

Information on surprising health facts about each butter were also on display: Walnuts (high in Omega-6) are great for studying; Hazelnuts are extremely high in fiber (11g) and protein (17g).
And which nut butter won the heart of most Lowellians? Turns out Pecan Butter is the Lowell House Favorite!
